“ANALYZE THIS!"

Marjie Thompson introduced her large class to the art and science of analyzing textiles.  The idea is to answer: “What’s this and is it woven and when?”  She had many samples to show as examples of how to view and record what you can see of the fabric using a pick glass and then used computer software to recreate the weave.

WHERE DO I GO FROM HERE?  A DISCUSSION FOR NEW WEAVERS

Susan Rockwell brought her loom and led her class through a discussion of topics, including warping from start to finish, tips, techniques, ideas and methods for moving to the next step in their weaving.

Connie Gray helped her class turn a lot of yarn bits and pieces become beautiful three dimensional yarn-wrapped paper decorations.

PREPARING A SAMPLE DRAFT SHEET

Jayne Flanagan led a discussion of how to turn all those slips of paper and scrawled notes into a sample sheet that can help us remember and recreate the wonderful weavings we make.  Many in the crowd added their thoughts and techniques.
